The first 5 ranks of any skill are free of time and money.
(SL * minimum CL required * 30) + MC + (5 x XP) + (10% Focus Component) or some service of sorts (price for ALL the teaching). If a power is being researched without teacher the cost is the monetary type, a character CAN’T asks for a service to himself! (munchkins!).
Psions, Psychic Warriors, and Sorcerers gain their powers/spells randomly at each level. Sorcerers can forget a spell anytime they want to learn something new from some kind of master. Psions and Psychic Warriors can drop any power they know to undergo a training (with or without a teacher) to develop a desired power.
CL = Class Levels (if prestige sum of all class levels (excluding those of OTHER prestige classes the character have)).
SL = Spell Level.
PL = Power Level.
MC = Material Components.

The introduction of this system is based in 3 important factors. 1) Due to the use of a character tree, training time gives windows to change characters; 2) Realism; 3) Campaign time span: Due to parallel storylines, some of them need time to develop, gears need time to turn in the multiverse and also I wanted players to experience the full phylosophical year some times during the game.
