Factions - The Dustmen

The Dustmen:
(The Dusters, The Dead)

"We're all dead – some more so than others.
We explore our state with patience, purge our passion,
and ascend towards the purity of True Death."

  • Requirements: A sod just have to promise to serve the faction and to state their knowledge and belief in having left Life behind. But to be anything more than a namer, the sod must left behind his passion and emotions as well (after that a month period is passed in the depths of the morgue, surrounded only by dead and undead).
  • Restrictions: Only cleric whose deities are related to death in some way are permitted to join this faction.
  • Organization: The Dead are far more organized than is commonly known. The ranks are divided into Circles, each one representing a closer allegiance and dedication to the Truth. Only Factol Skall and his most personal advisors are Initiates of the First Circle. The Second Circle consists of almost entirely undead beings, mostly mortals who chose the path of undeath in order to better experience a passionless life. They typically reside within the Negative Energy Plane within the Dustmen Citadel. The Third Circle represents the most powerful mortals within the Dead and the face of the faction within the Cage. It is typically they who run the Mortuary and conduct and manage daily business in Sigil and advise Skall on happenings therein. The Fourth and Fifth Circles are for Initiates that have entered the faction and wish to pursue life as a Dustmen. Many of these men and women make up the Collectors, the group of Dustmen responsible for cleaning up the corpses in the Hive and bringing them to the Mortuary. The Collectors are presided over by a member of the Third Circle. As policy, most of the faction’s secrets are not told even to these members until they are judged trustworthy by a Initiate of the Third Circle. Advancement is at the whim of the faction elite.
  • Clerics and the Undead: No matter religion or alignment, once a cleric (or Paladin) joins the Dustmen he’s considered Evil for purposes of his Turn Undead ability.
