Believers of the Source Prestige Class

Child of the Forge

  • All Godsmen believe that every being holds a spark of the divine within them and can thus eventually become gods. However, this process is viewed as one taking many lifetimes, where each life is an improvement over the previous. But there are some Believers of the Source who are not content with this slow process; they believe that such improvement can be accomplished in one lifetime. These Godsmen have put themselves on the fast track to divine ascension and are known as Children of the Forge.
  • To qualify to be a Child of the Forge, a character must fulfill the following criteria:

    Strength of the Spirit

  • The following skills are considered class skills for a Child of the Forge:
  • Concentration (Con), Craft (Any, Int), Diplomacy (Cha), Forgery (Int), Knowledge Architecture and Engineering (Int), Knowledge Religion (Int), Profession (Any, Wis).
  • Skill Points at Each Level: 8 + Int modifier.
  • All of the following are features of the Child of the Forge:
  • Hit Die: d8
  • Weapon and Armor Proficiency: None.
  • Broken Wheel: These Godsmen decided that instead of playing Russian roulette with their souls in the Wheel of Life, they'll keep their body and soul in all subsequent reincarnations. The penalty to this decision is that all previous experience is forgot each time they reincarnate. In other words, every time this character dies, you can create a new character with the same ability scores as the character started with and the same race. Class can be changed.
If the Child of the Forge dies from suicide or gross negligence for their own safety (even including heroic sacrifices on their part), they lose all class abilities from his just lost life.
  • Discipline of the Infinity: The character can add his starting class as a new favored class for him. If he already have that class as favored, he can pick another non-prestige class he own, and if no one, any non-prestige class. This ability is cumulative with all racial choices and previous Discipline of the Infinity choices.
  • Life Lessons: The Child of the Forge has taught himself how to carry some experience to his new life. Since now, in his actual life and once they reincarnate in his next life, they receive +1 skill point per level. This is a cumulative ability (with the Godsmen ability and with previous choices of this ability in past lives).
  • Bonus Ability Point: Working in his soul, has effects on his body and mind. The character can increase one of his ability scores in one point.
  • Master Crafter: All the tinkering they do has results not only in their next lives. All the Child of the Forge craft skill checks gains a competence bonus of +1 per each Child of the Forge levels. Also, no matter how many times they failed a craft check during the creation of an item, they never are forced to start all over again, and penalties for failing a check are reduced to 1/10th the market price of the raw materials of the item (instead of the normal 1/3rd).
  • Body and Soul as One: All the character's present unmodified ability scores can be used as starting ability scores in his next reincarnation. This is valid for the next reincarnation only. Also the Child of the Forge gains an automatic Fortitude saving throw (replace the normal save if one exists, or gain one if none) against any attack that would lower one of his ability scores.
  • Strength of the Spirit: Having forged themselves near to divinity, the children of the forge has learned how the wheel turns. He can start his next reincarnation with a +1 level, this is a cumulative ability.
Also, by means of this ability, the Child of the Forge can reforge it's own body and soul, allowing him to physically evolve in his next reincarnation. In game terms, this levels can be used to pay racial level adjustments, for example, if the Child wants to be reborn as a Githyanki (not that anyone wants too), only 1 level is necesary, but if the Child wants to adquire angelic blood in it's wheel (aka Half-Celestial), he needs to adquire this ability three times before undergoing the evolutionary process. Once the choice is made, it's irreversible, only by gaining enough levels and paying a new transformation again this could be undone (every transformation has a minimum cost of 1, even for humans and races with CL adjustment of 0).
