Advancement

By character class

· Fighters: The core of the fighting force of the githyanki, the vast majority are fighter class, with the rest being rangers and very little, almost unique, barbarians. They use arms and armor as humans do; however, these are normally highly decorated (masterwork) and over time become almost religious artifacts. A githyanki warrior would likely show greater care for his weapon than he would toward his mate. They progress in rank and honors as sergeants, lieutenants, and captains. Upon 5th level half the rank is awarded with a Greatsword +1, later those of 7th level or above are 60% likely to have a Greatsword +2.

· Gish: An elite among the fighters. These are individuals who have developed their psionic abilities beyond the normal parameters without letting their martial training go to waste (aka Psychic Warriors). However, there are some to follow this path tending toward the warlocks instead (fighter/wizard). In the githyanki society they assume a role of religious counsellors, something like the human monks. Upon 5th level the rank is awarded with a Greatsword +1, later those of 7th level or above are 40% likely to carry a Silver Sword; otherwise a Greatsword +2 is awarded.

· Knights: The githyanki are evil champions who take up the causes of the mysterious lich-queen (aka Blackguards). Githyanki knights are very powerful and highly revered in their society. Upon 5th level the rank is awarded with a Greatsword +1, later those of 7th level or above always carry a Silver Sword.

· Warlocks: These are the power-able individuals. Psions, wizards, sorcerers, evokers and Illusionists form this group, with some particular individuals specializing in other schools.

· Supreme Leader: Second in power only to their lich-queen, the supreme leaders of the githyanki are highly exceptional individuals (fighters, psychic warriors, blackguards, or fighter/mages of 11-16th level). Supreme leaders carry a Vorpal Silver Sword +5, which instantly sever any silver cord it hits.

· Psionics (Sp): All githyanki, regardless of class, have the abilities of a psion of half its current level, minimum 1. Also, every githyanki know the 7th level power Plane Shift in addition to their normal allowed maximum, and can manifest it freely as long its cost can be paid (13 PSPs per use). Known powers are normally selected from the Clairsentience and Psychoportive disciplines.

· Spell Resistance: 5 + 1 per character level.

· Power Resistance: 5 + 1 per character level.

· Humanoid: Proficient with all simple weapons.

· Outsider: Darkvision 60 feet. Can’t be raised or resurrected.
