Planescape Monstrous Supplement
Aleax (Template)
An Aleax is an agent of vengeance employed by a god to punish those worshippers that have strayed from the path. It is the sole duty of the Aleax to exact retribution against transgressors who fail to make proper sacrifices, stray from sworn alignments, or otherwise anger and invoke the wrath of their deity. As such, an Aleax will never be encountered by chance. There is only one Aleax for each god. It is a fragment of the god's own will, and it cannot be fully destroyed unless the god is destroyed.
An Aleax is a form of celestial doppelganger, and will always appear as a nearly identical duplicate of its intended victim. To its victim, an Aleax appears to be clad in a shimmering column of light. This color of this unearthly glow depends on the deity's alignment: golden for lawful good, deep purple for lawful evil, scintillating red-and-blue hues for chaotic good, and so forth.
An Aleax will attack its intended victim as soon as it manifests, saying only that it has been sent by his god to punish him for his sins. It will speak no more.

Single Combat (Su):
An Aleax cannot be detected in any way by others, including magical means such as true seeing or other detection spells. In addition, an Aleax can in no way be fought by anyone other than its intended victim. This immunity extends to melee combat, ranged combat, spells, psionics, or any other form of combat or magic. Only the intended victim can see the Aleax and damage it in combat. Regeneration (Su): The Aleax heals 8 hit points per round, regardless of how it was damaged, however, this doesn’t bring the Aleax back to life. Relentless (Su): Immune to any effect that taps its life source. Automatically saves when confronted with illusions, and can attempt to break a charm once per round. Critical Vulnerability (Su): Any hit scored against an Aleax on an unmodified roll of 19 does double damage, and any hit on an unmodified 20 does quadruple damage. Penance (Su): A victim killed by an Aleax suffers one of the following: Forfeits to his deity all treasure and possessions. All magic items owned by the victim loose their magic and become normal items (i.e. scrolls become blank parchment, potions become water). Looses half his experience points. The victim is then returned to life at the new level. The player of a multiclass character is allowed to determine how the experience point loss affects his classes. If the loss of levels results in the character no longer qualifying for a prestige class, the character looses that class entirely. Accepts some service (equivalent of Geas, but it’s unbreakable even by Wish spells) Should the Aleax loose the battle, the spirit merges with it’s intended victim. The character receives a permanent Intelligence and Charisma increase of 1, and an extra +1 racial to Spot and Listen (it stacks with his actual racial bonuses if any). However, if the character faces a similar situation with the character’s initial offense, the Aleax’s spirit will try to take control and avenge the offense. The character must roll a Will save (DC 10 + CL/2 + Cha Mod). If fails, the character become possessed by the desire to punish those who have offended the Aleax’s god. This effect remains until the offenders are punished or a successful Dispel Magic (DC 10 + CL) is cast upon the character.
