Setting
up Ultima Online |
1) Insert your Ultima Online CD After the set up
program auto starts, you have to do a full install to your hard drive to play on Zulu
Hotel.
2) Click on Advanced.
3) Click on Install Ultima Online.
4) Click on Full, click on Next.
5) Set the directory to install, Click on Next.
6) After Ultima Online is fully installed, click on Finish.
7) Click on Yes. Do NOT install
Direct X 5, you should download Direct X 7a from Microsoft's Website.
8) Run uopatch.exe (found inside UO directory) and let
it patch your version of UO.
I have been getting reports from players that they can't log on. If you run the
uopatch and it stops...just keep running the autopatch. You should run it over and
over until it completes.

Zulu Shard is free to anyone that has Ultima Online.
1) Read the rules.
2)Apply for an account. Your
password will be emailed it to you.
3) Back up login.cfg and verdata.mul
files in your UO directory.4) Get the shard files from the file section.
5) To play on just run client.exe and DO NOT
run the file uo.exe.
If you run uo.exe, then you will get the error
"there is some problem communicating with origin"

In a multiplayer environment of this size, rules need to be
made known and enforced. Players are expected to read the rules, understand them. We ask
that players observe these rules, so as to allow Zulu Hotel to be an enjoyable place for
all. Violating these rules that have been set forth is punishable by staff.
Please keep in mind that staff reserves the right to change rules as needed to keep
up with the ever changing world.

RULES |
Section 1: Definitions |
1. Player
A person who has access to an Ultima Online account and is using this account to play a
Zulu Hotel character shall henceforth be known as a player.
2. Staff
Zulu Hotel volunteers -- who include Counselors, Seers, GM's, Administrators, and Developers.
A staff member is easily identified by their job title in front of their name, as well as a
special robe that only staff members may wear that says "Staff Robe" when clicked. Such
volunteers shall henceforth be known as staff.
3. Macroing
A series of repetitive movements or actions that allow the gain of skills, statistics, or
automation of any nature in which the player is not physically near their computer, able to
respond to questioning, shall henceforth be known as macroing.
4. Harassment
Abuse, threatening or otherwise violating the legal rights (such as rights of privacy and
publicity) of others.
Publishing, posting, uploading, distributing or disseminating any inappropriate, profane,
defamatory, infringing, obscene, indecent or unlawful topic, name, material or information
shall henceforth be known as harassment.
5. Non-Player Characters
A character generated by the server that is run on scripts by the server, that is not actively
controlled by a player shall henceforth be known as an NPC.
6. PK
The attacking and/or slaying of another player, willing or not, shall henceforth be known as
PK.
7. No-PK Zones
The Newbie Dungeon, a dungeon located inside a gate directly South of Britain's bank, and
inside a small building, shall henceforth be known as a No-PK Zone. The Minoc Mines, an area
located to the West of Minoc, may be reached by means of a bridge in Northwest Minoc. The
Minoc Mines shall henceforth be known as a No-PK Zone.
8. Roleplayer's Guild
The group of players in the guild named the Roleplayer's Guild, with the guild tag of [RPer]
shall henceforth be collectively known as the Roleplayer's Guild.
9. Roleplayer's City
The town in which the Roleplayer's Guild guild stone currently resides shall henceforth be
known as the Roleplayer's City.
10. Roleplayer Guild Member
A player that is currently a member of the Roleplayer's Guild shall henceforth be known as a
Roleplayer Guild Member, or a Rper. A member of the Roleplayer's Guild is easily identified
by the addition of [RPer] in their name.

Section 2: General Rules |
1. Macroing
Macroing is only permitted during certain periods during the day: 1:00A.M.-9:00A.M. Eastern
Standard Time Zone (EST time zone). Macroing outside of these specified hours is punishable
by the staff.
2. Harassment
Harassment is strictly prohibited. Violating this rule may result in permanent termination of
your account.
3. Paging
Staff is available at all times of the day to aid you with any problems or concerns you may
have. Do not page with threatening pages, profanity or obscene and graphic language. Do not
page more than once every hour about the same topic.
4. Bugs
Hacking or deliberately using game bugs or loopholes to disrupt the game is considered a
violation of these rules. If you learn of a bug, notify the staff immediately.
5. Banned Accounts
Players may not allow players who have been banned from Zulu Hotel to access their account.
Such a violation will result in the permanent termination of the account.
6. Logging In
Players may only log in with one char at one time. Such a violation will result in the permanent termination of the account.

Section 3: Player Activities |
1. The World
Attacking invulnerable NPCs is prohibited. Bringing invulnerable NPCs into a player owned
house is prohibited. Entering another player's house through a means other than the use of
the house's key and taking items from the house is prohibited.
2. Towns/Guarded Areas
The killing of players is prohibited in and directly around the area of a guarded area,
unless the players fighting and killed are in an official guild war, known to the staff.
Use of spells, items, or any means that harms innocents in a guarded area is prohibited.
Looting another player's corpse in a guarded area is prohibited, unless the corpse belongs
to a member of a guild who is currently involved in an official guild war, known to the staff.
3. Safe Areas
Any place known as a No-PK Zone is a sanctuary for the players. In such an area, bringing harm
to, killing, or looting of any player is strictly prohibited. Bringing harm to, killing, or
looting of any player-owned NPC in such an area is prohibited. In addition, theft from any
player or player-owned NPC in such an area is prohibited.
4. Roleplayer's City
The Roleplayer's City is to be considered a safe haven for all players. In the Roleplayer's
City, bringing harm to, killing, or looting of any player is strictly prohibited. Bringing
harm to, killing, or looting of any player-owned NPC in such an area is prohibited. Theft
from any player or player-owned NPC in the Roleplayer's City is prohibited. In addition, you
will be expected to refrain from profanity and abusive or graphic language while in the
Roleplayer's City. Failure to do so will result in your removal, and banishment from the
Roleplayer's City, as well as possible further punishment by the staff.

Section 4: Staff Activities |
1. Replacing Lost Items
Staff members cannot replace lost items, skills, statistics or anything else lost due to
anything but a bug.
2. Modifying Characters or Items
Staff members are not allowed to alter the skills, statistics, colors or items of a player
upon demand or whim.
3. Staff Uniforms
Staff members must wear their robes, displaying their proper colors:
Counselor- Light Blue
Seer- Green
GM- Red
Administrator- Black
Developer- Dark Purple
4. Jailing
Staff members shall not jail a player without due cause that may be supported by evidence.
5. Banning
Staff members shall not permanently terminate a player's account without due investigation.
6. Adaptability
Due to complex situations arising from a dynamic environment such as a multiplayer world, the
staff reserves the right to alter the rules in order to accommodate for new situations that
may arise in the course of game play.

Section 5: Chain of Punishment |
1. Minor Offenses
You will be notified of what you have done wrong and/or disconnected from Zulu Hotel and
issued a warning that shall be stored in your account file.
2. Minor Repeat Offenses
You will be jailed for a period of time between one and seven days and shall recieve another
warning stored in your account file.
3. Medium Offense/Repeat Offenses
You will be jailed for a period of time between one and fourteen days and shall recieve
another warning stored in your account file.
4. Major Offense/Repeat Offenses
You will be banned from Zulu Hotel for up to one full month.
5. Major Offense/Repeated Offenses
Your account shall be permanently terminated and all belongings you have on the Zulu Hotel
server shall be deleted.
6. Serious Offense
Particularly serious violations can result in extended jail time or permanent termination of
your account, without warning.

Section 6: Message Board Rules |
Those of you that did not, or have not read the message board rules in the past, pay attention.
These are the rules that you will need to follow in order to have the privledge of posting
messages on the Zulu Hotel messageboard:
We will not tolerate any abuse of the message board. A LOT is allowed at Zulu Hotel.
However, failure to follow these rules will result in your being banned from the message board.
We at this BB also reserve the right to reveal your identity (or whatever information we know
about you) in the event of a complaint or legal action arising from any message posted by you.
1) Posts of an explicit sexual nature are inappropriate and will be
deleted. Depending on the nature of the post, it could get you banned.
2) Posts of a racial nature are inappropriate and will be deleted.
Depending on the nature of the post, it could get you banned.
3) Harrassment of other players or staff members will not be tolerated
on the message board. Such posts will be deleted and could get you
banned.
4) Excessive foul language on the message board is inappropriate and
will be deleted. Depending on the nature of the post, it could get
you banned.
5) Posts attacking Zulu or his staff will be deleted. While opinions
and criticism are welcome, verbal abuse is not. You also stand the
chance of being banned.
6) Posts that are discriminating will not be tolerated and will be
deleted. An example of this is use of the word "homo". It could also
get you banned.
7) Posts that are derogatory in nature will be deleted. It could
also get you banned.
8) Posts containing links to web-sites that are violently graphic or
sexually explicit in nature will get deleted. It could get you
banned.
We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make
every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine
that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however,
so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit
particular messages immediately.
